14 - Always Forward

Mikel Arteta delivered the first trophy for Arsenal in FA Cup. Pep Guardiola's former assistant took charge of the Gunners in December 2019 and six months later, he has tasted his first success in the famous FA Cup which Arsenal are lifting for the record 14th time.

Arsenal last won the trophy in 2017 beating chelsea 2-1 and three years later they repeat the same feat beating their london rivals by the same scoreline. Our match winner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made the difference like he always does. First, converting a penalty in the first half and then scoring a left footed goal in the second half with his swift moving.

The team performance has improved in a positive way ever since Mikel Arteta came into the club but still there were few inconsistencies in results. For example, losing to Olympiacos F.C. in the Europa League. Winning against Manchester City, Liverpool and then losing to relegation threatened Aston Villa. These results made fans doubt in team's capability to win against Chelsea in a final.

The fear of the fans came true when Christian Pulisic scored a brilliant goal five minutes into the game for Chelsea. He had a cheeky assist from former Arsenal man Olivier Giroud which then Pulisic scored past Emiliano Martínez. Chelsea were in control of the game for first fifteen minutes and looked to threaten the Arsenal defense. But, Arsenal were solid and slowly got back into the game and it was César Azpilicueta who made a foul on Aubameyang in the penalty box. The game changed on in favor of Arsenal from that moment.

And, things went bad for Chelsea in the second half as their goal scorer Pulisic had to be subbed off due to hamstring injury. Mateo Kovacic was sent off for his foul on Granit Xhaka. Pedro had a dislocated shoulder and had to be stretchered off from the field.

Arsenal have won their first trophy in three years and it looks like Arsenal are moving in the right direction with the appointment of Mikel Arteta and few transfer signings would definitely make Arsenal a top team in the coming days.
